Ok…..yes, I suck. I watched this flick and liked it. . Yes….gratuitous violence….macho male stupidity….explosions….guns….blood….lines grunted instead of spoken….etc. This all adds up to the perfect dude movie when the girlfriends are not around. It is a movie of a certain genre and not for all persons. The simple fact the lead actor (Dominic Purcell) was the lead actor in “Assault on Wall Street” should tell you exactly where this movie is heading. One could say it’s a lot like “Driving Miss Daisy” actually. Except in this version Miss Daisy gets capped in the forehead before the opening credits finish rolling. WELL THEN WAIT! At about the 15 minute mark it gets all medieval / knights of the roundtable / Gandalf with flying dragons and stuff. Seriously! It does. Then some chicks show up. Then there are horses. Then there are dudes with English accents casting spells. And the hits just keep on coming. Plus the flying dragons come back for an encore. Oy. Then they are back in the US and people kill each other with the standard methods (guns, bombs, martial arts). (but watch out for those dragons!!!) . I ended up watching the entire movie just because it was weird. It was like John McClane meets Rambo meets King Arthur and they agree to kill everyone they see who was hired by the production company. Too weird to turn off. . I think I liked it, but check back with me in 6 months when I have processed all the weirdness. By then I will have watched a few more times so I get what is really going on . Suffice to say, this is one weird flick.
I realize that I stand to be censored, but I can't resist. Is a chick flick for guys a Dick Flick? Because this is one. It was really cute and funny and human. There were some DUH moments. But it was warm and I got a little choked up. Zac Efron, who I actually think is really talented, tends to be in these emotional movies. Check out Charlie St. Cloud. I liked it. Totally worth a watch.
Wow that episode was almost like a feature length sci-fi-action-horror movie, with love stories and romance as well!! One of the strongest TB episodes to date!!! Thank you Solarians for posting this series.
If you live in NY, you will love this movie. If you are part of the other 312 million people in this country not living in NYC, you will be bored. . Yes, it is a nice story, but like your basic NY Times article, it is a bunch of NYers reveling about being NYers. Had this not been the 53rd billionth re-telling of this story, it might be interesting. As it is, it is rather boring. . fwiw…I lived in NYC for many years. I have seen this play before…far too many times. And during that time, I lived in that exact same neighborhood. . wutevah..yawners
Not that bad of a b flick horror film with a small budget. Multiple twists at the end but some are expected from the get go. The acting by some of the cast is rather questionable in some parts but if you bear with it you'll be slightly entertained with the movie. I'd give it a 5 out of a 10.
OMG the Actor who plays Oliver was in my town last night, with a special airing of the season finale. . .at our fancy bar... .lol and an after-party!!! AND I MISSED IT! I MISSED MEETING HIM! T.T The episode was awesome though!!!
