This was a truly remarkable story. Well done, well acted; very emotionally liberating film.
Just simply a great film with such emotional turmoil and yet some how it remains portrayed in such a sensitive way.
Love it !!! 9.5/10
Antwone Fisher
I think this movie might be one of my favorite movies, that have seen in awhile. I loved this movie. Everything was great about this movie. The acting was outstanding, and realistic. Very dramatic. They even through a love story in there. I would recomend this movie to anyone out there. If your looking for a good one to rent, rent this movie.

Derek Luke is nothing short of phenomenal in this 4-hanky drama that marks Denzel Washington's directorial debut. Antwone Fisher is the moving true story of a young man who joins the Navy after enduring years of abuse at the hands of his foster mother and her family. However, his attempts to move on with his life are hindered by years of repressed anger that surfaces with explosive results at any perceived slight. Fisher is sent to see a Navy psychiatrist (Washington) who helps him face his past and reconnect with the family he never knew. Luke makes a convincing transition as the walls surrounding his troubled character crumble and he begins to heal his wounded soul. Antwone Fisher is a must-see, especially for those who use a troubled past as an excuse to never move forward. Fisher is living proof that, with heart and courage, one can rise above a bad childhood and become a productive, successful member of society.
Denzel Washington makes his directorial debut in a very sad film about a young military man, played by Derek Luke in his acting debut. Antwone has grown up with some hardships, and can't seem to quit fighting with everyone. After several fights break up, he's sentenced to visit a psychiatrist, played by Denzel. There we learn about his terrible mother and other family members where he suffered horrible molestation as a young adult. His poem, "who will cry for the little boy?" makes me cry every time I hear it; it's that beautiful. Of course, Denzel's hiding some secrets of his own at home.

I feel ya man...

Very touching movie. I connected to this movie in many ways. For one, I used to be an orphan without any real knowledge of my background. Fortunately, I didn't go through what he had to go through as a childhood because I've had loving and caring adopted parents. Still do. However, toward the end of movie when he met his real family for the first time is where it actually moved me to tears. Though, it is a flawed movie but Denzel Washington did a pretty good job and I couldn't have done it better myself.
The 25th Hour is another good movie from Spike Lee, but nothing too memorable.

Antwone Fisher superbly tells of the uphill climb Fisher took to be successful in life. Helped extremely by the performance of Derek Luke.

The Quiet American seamlessly combines both the politics of Vietnam and the love triangle of the main characters.

Daredevil sees a misuse of the cast in a one-dimensional film.
