Intense. Emotional. Uncomfortable. It's White Oleander, a little bit Precious, and a LOT of dysfunction. Good acting all around. Agree with @SparkyKarl, Katie Jarvis awkwardly dances through this film with the skill of a seasoned professional. By the end of the film, you'll want to hug her and wash her face. Michael Fassbender, that hunky thing; you'll want to smell his neck and put a knife to it at the same time. This movie won't be for everyone. It's family tumult at it's best. But it will stir up some emotion in you, one way or another.
Such a shame this girl has only been in one film, she's got great talent too, I would love to see more of her in future films.

loved it

Low budget movie but a decent drama.

SEE "FISH TANK" IF YOU DARE CARE.
"Fish" IS WELL Worth the time. It's a poignant study of adolescence; a tale of a sgle Mom and her 2 daughters (the younger reminded me of Jodie Foster as a child). Looking for security, seeking acceptance and love. Drinking, swearing, living w/ the hangovers of life. Not able to get out of their rat hole, not possible to alter the course of their poverty. They strained @ the seams, and I kept waiting for the whole house of cards to tumble. The 15 yr old girl was esp. wonderful; one roots for her break-dancing dreams; one worries about the chances she takes daily. Not a happy story, but a valid reflection of life on the edge. The man in their lives (younger'n the Mom -- older'n the girl) forced the story forward, w/ surprising, but unpredictable results. The movie lingers in the backroads of my mind. mb ps I shld mention that the theater was mostly empty, and upon leaving I asked a couple of men what they thot and one said "boring; too long; a skunk", (?)
