haha What a great movie!! Jason Statham's first movie and he was great; no wonder he has done so many films in such a short time. Epic storyline and I love how they intertwined the story with the different group of characters. 8.5/10
Loved it, was a clever film, loved the fact it was not Hollywood, 8/10.

A British gangster thriller with gritty and seedy realism of the UK underworld, LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS is also a stylized comedy of four friends who get theirselves deep in real sh** with some local baddies. Ed, the poker player and thinker of the group plays a high-stakes poker game and his faceoff with a local porn king/hitman employer Hatchet Harry (a sinister P.H. Moriarty) ends up in him owing 500,000 dollars in one week. Ed (Nick Moran) and his group, which consists of Tom, the wily whiner and goofball of the bunch (Tom Flemyng), Bacon, the street-smart one of the bunch (Jason Statham's breakthrough role, whose role was given to him by Sting who plays Ed's father pointed him out to director Guy Ritchie) and Soap, the do-gooder and follower of the bunch (Dexter Fletcher).

They decide to rob a bank of a local gangster Winston (a brutal Steven MacKintosh) and get away with it cleanly and without murder. Eventually, another local gangster Rory Braker (Vas Blackwood) wants the money and Big Chris (a breezy Vinnie Jones) and Barry the Baptist (Lenny McLean) both want a pair of precious Brotherby's double-barreled shotguns. Barry sends out two goons to get it, but it gets involved with the robbery and everyone gets entangled in the process, along with greedy weed farmers. The climax of the movie is brutally violent (almost all of the violence is off-screen but you see the bloody aftermath of the shootout and something else) and clever and imaginatively shot.

While not as violent or mysterious as Quentin Tarantino's work, Guy Ritchie's first film and producer Matthew Vaughn's too shines due to the street-wise dialogue and compelling characters. The characters are suitably edgy and foul-mouthed and their street cred gives them authenticity in their performances. One character in particular, Bacon who was played perfectly by Jason Statham (the reason why I saw this movie), kept me focused and getting the jist of what the heck these fellas were talking about and getting a sense of what they had in mind and what was going on (some of the dialogue was incomprehensible, due to London slang). All in all, LOCK STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS is an engaging and remarkably gritty gangster thriller and comedy that gives the seedy UK underworld a tribute by Guy Ritchie. My friend loaned me this movie the other day saying that I would really like this movie and he was right. It is a very interesting story line in the way the characters where related. One character would steal a couple of guns for a guy, who then would get it stolen by guys that needed to get the money to the guy that the first guys stole the guns for in the first place. It was kinda confusing when you think about it but it was a very entertaining movie.

Guy Ritchie is probably one of the best filmmakers of our time. His films are funny, innovative and always engaging. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was amazing, introduced a new direction to the crime genre, Crime Comedy. Snatch introduced his style to an Amercian audience. I can admit that Swept Away was bad, Revolver, although not is best, was still a kind of enjoyable film, occasionally pretentious. He returned to his winning formula with RockNRolla and it payed off amazingly. I was left amazed. I pre-orded it on DVD the minute I got home. And his Sherlock Holmes film is out next year. It'll be good. Mark my words.
One of my all time favorite movies! Jason Statham is Great!!!!
Hot men with sexy accents, gun fights, drugs... who could ask for more? A little confusing at first, which made it a little hard to get into, but as soon as everything is clear it's awesome! I bet the soundtrack is really good too.
