Whether Catholic, Lutheran, Buddhist, or Agnostic...I think you will enjoy this historical film, which showcases Joseph Fiennes in the complex and haunted role of Martin Luther. The film is worth seeing for its visual splendor alone, both in its sets and in its performances, and certainly as an introduction to a complex historical topic.
As a side note, I'm always surprised at how few people know who Martin Luther is. It's not just that he battled the corruption and control of the Catholic church of his time, and brought about the largest reformation movement of Christianity (the Protestant Reformation). The impact of this German monk, priest, and professor stretched across Germany and Europe as a whole, bringing about cultural and social changes that extend into today. Good grief, I love history! ;)
